Feel More Confident, Improve Your Skills And Rock Your First Dance!

Want To Feel Confident And Prepared For Your First Dance? Today, I Will Show You How, So You Can Relax And Enjoy It.

The truth is, soon you’ll be standing on an empty dance floor in front of all your friends and family. And if you’re like most couples (including my husband and I on our wedding day), you’re probably worried about having two left feet and making a fool out of yourself, right?

But let’s be honest, you deserve to feel just as special during your first dance as you do during every other moment on your wedding day. Your moment on the dance floor should feel just as special as when you walk down the aisle, exchange your vows, and make your grand entrance into the ballroom.

Wouldn’t it be nice if you and your fiance knew what you were doing, so you could just relax and enjoy a magical moment together? Well, you’re in luck my friend. I’m going to walk you through the first three steps you need to take to start preparing for your first dance with confidence, even if you have no dance experience.

Let’s get started!

1. Talk About Your First Dance With Your Fiance

Your first dance will be way more fun if you and your fiance are both on the same page, but this is a topic that you might not see eye to eye on at first, so let’s talk about how to get the conversation started.

First, talk about how you feel about dancing at your wedding. For example, you might have different views of what you want your first dance experience to be like. Or, maybe one of you has a hidden fear of dancing that’s making you dread it. Or, maybe you’re both on the same page but one of you doesn’t feel as prepared as you’d like.

Either way, talking things over with your fiance will ease your concerns and help you plan a dance you’re both comfortable with, so you feel confident and excited about it.

You can learn more about how to talk with your fiance about your first dance, inside my First Dance Starter Kit, which includes a conversation starter and sample word-for-word script that will get you both on the same page.

2. Plan The First Dance Of Your Dreams

Once, you and your fiance have all your concerns out in the open, and you’re on the same page, it’s time to plan the first dance of your dreams. Don’t hold back here. This is your time to really visualize it (picture your song playing, the two of you on the dance floor, your guests watching, etc)

What kind of moment do you want to experience on the dance floor?

Do you want your first dance to be formal and fancy? Or, showy and entertaining? Or, casual and relaxed? Anything goes.

And, what type of dance moves do you desire?

Will you just rock back and forth in place? Or, learn a few simple moves that you can repeat throughout your dance? Or, do a fully choreographed routine?

The sky’s the limit, and it all boils down to you and your fiance’s mutual desires, and planning a dance you’re both comfortable with, so you can relax and have fun with it on your wedding day.

3. Practice Your First Dance And Prepare For The Reception Dance Floor

Once you have a plan in place for your first dance, it’s time to start practicing and getting confident on the dance floor.

You’ll want to practice your first dance just like you’ll be dancing on your wedding day, and the best part is that you can do this at home.

Pick a practice spot and imagine that you’re at your reception. Then, visualize where your guests will be sitting, where your DJ will be, and where you’ll be standing. Then, turn on your song and practice dancing to the music, from beginning to end.

Practice starting your dance by walking onto the dance floor gracefully. Practice ending your dance with a dip, and an elegant walk off the dance floor. And, practice every move you plan to dance, in between.

How much you practice is completely up to you. But, the most important thing is that you run through your dance at least once, so you and your fiance know what to expect on your wedding day. This way there’s no unwanted surprises or embarrassing moments.

And like anything else, the more you practice, the better you’ll look and feel in the moment.
