Let’s start by setting the scene for your recessional
At this point, you’re married at last!
After your first kiss (and after any final remarks from your officiant) the recessional portion of your wedding will take place. This is the first of two parts, which will conclude your ceremony, and will take place when you begin your exit down the aisle, followed by your wedding party.
Where the beginning of your ceremony may have felt more serious and emotional, your recessional offers a more lighthearted and fun vibe, as you celebrate your first moments as a married couple.
It’s time to pick out the perfect recessional song
Choosing music that’s upbeat and lively will reflect you're happiness, and create an atmosphere that feels joyous and celebratory for you and your guests.
Here are a few things to keep in mind…
How do you want to feel in the moment, or what mood do you want to set?
Do you want to play instrumental music, or a song with lyrics?
If you choose to play instrumental music, what is your favorite instrument?
Who are your favorite bands and are there any good instrumental versions of their songs you could use?
Answering these questions will give you a clear idea of exactly what kind of music you’re looking for, and will help you choose a song you love. Make sure this music expresses all the emotions you will be feeling (or want to be feeling) in the moment. Also, depending on how many people are in your wedding party, you may need up to two songs picked out to cover the amount of time it will take them to exit the ceremony.
I have a playlist of upbeat wedding song ideas for you to preview. You can preview the playlist, by clicking here. I hope it helps you find music you love, so the recessional portion of your ceremony is a happy moment you'll never forget.
